We are looking for an intern to join our Global Technology and Testing Group in Metallurgy for 6 months. This internship offers hands-on experience in a professional testing laboratory, supporting metallographic, mechanical, and surface investigations for products in the medical device/dental field.
Internship Purpose:
Support the Metallurgy team in preparing, executing, documenting, and evaluating laboratory tests and investigations while learning good laboratory practice in a regulated medical device environment
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and perform metallographic testing, including sample preparation, embedding, grinding, polishing, etching, microscopy, and photo documentation.

Support mechanical testing activities on materials, components, or products according to defined test plans and procedures.

Conduct surface investigations and material characterization using available laboratory methods and equipment.

Record, organize, and evaluate test data accurately; prepare images, summaries, and test-related documentation.

Support general laboratory activities such as sample handling, equipment monitoring, consumables management, and test-order administration.

Collaborate with scientists, and cross-functional partners to communicate results and observations clearly.
Education:

Graduate or postgraduate technical/scientific degree program, such as mechanical engineering, life sciences or equivalent.
Requirements:

Interest in metallurgy, material characterization, laboratory testing, and medical device or dental applications.

Familiarity with metallographic methods, mechanical testing, microscopy, surface investigation, or materials laboratory work is an advantage.

Ability to work carefully with technical documentation and follow detailed procedures and good documentation practice.

Good laboratory practice, including attention to safety, cleanliness, traceability, and accurate data recording.

Good organization skills and the ability to manage several laboratory tasks in parallel.

Proficiency in English, spoken and written, and experienced with MS Office tools.

Knowledge of German is an advantage
