The Global Category Manager IT & Telecom is responsible for defining and executing the global sourcing and category strategy for IT and Telecom spend, managing an annual spend of approximately CHF 80 million . The role ensures cost efficiency, value creation, risk mitigation, and strong supplier and stakeholder partnerships across the organization.
- Develop and implement a global category strategy for IT & Telecom aligned with business objectives and financial targets in alignment with Global IT
- Manage and optimize an annual global spend of ~CHF 80 million , delivering measurable cost savings and value improvements
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives , including RFx processes, negotiations, contract creation, and renewals
- Drive supplier performance management , including governance, risk management, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders (IT, Digital, Cyber Security, Finance, and Business Units)
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, proactively influencing demand, specifications, and sourcing decisions
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor market trends, technology developments, and supplier landscapes to identify opportunities and risks
- Support digital and transformation initiatives by enabling optimal commercial models and strategic supplier partnerships
- Engage and align with key stakeholders—including Global and Regional IT leadership, Digital, Infrastructure, and Cyber Security teams, Finance and Controlling, Procurement (global and local), and strategic suppliers—to manage the business-critical and cost-intensive IT & Telecom category, ensuring cost control, supplier stability, and successful delivery of high-impact IT initiatives.
- Bachelor or University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, IT, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in Procurement or Category Management, with strong exposure to IT & Telecom categories
- Proven track record in managing large, complex spend portfolios and delivering sustainable cost savings
- Solid experience in contract negotiations, commercial models, and supplier governance
- Strong understanding of IT commercial structures (e.g. software licensing, cloud services, infrastructure, managed services, telecom contracts)
- Experience working in international and matrix organizations
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills , including senior and executive level stakeholders
- Strategic mindset combined with strong execution capabilities
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and financial skills
- High level of business acumen and cost saving orientation
- Ability to operate effectively under cost pressure in a fast paced environment
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken) ; additional languages are an advantage
