About the role
As a Medical Science Liaison, this individual contributor role serves as the launch-phase Field Medical Lead for Takeda in Switzerland. The role is dedicated to addressing the diagnostic gap in Narcolepsy Type 1 (NT1) by increasing disease awareness, strengthening referral pathways and supporting Centres of Excellence and sleep specialists in improving patient identification and follow-up.

Builds and manages trusted relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, Healthcare Professionals, medical societies and patient advocacy organizations across Switzerland.

Communicates Takeda’s scientific and clinical value through high-quality, compliant and non-promotional scientific exchange.

Raises awareness of NT1 across the diagnostic pathway, including primary care, psychiatry, pulmonology, neurology and sleep medicine.

Partners with medical societies and Centres of Excellence to co-develop red-flag criteria, referral algorithms and society-endorsed diagnostic standards.

Supports healthcare professionals in improving the identification, referral and follow-up of patients with NT1 in accordance with local clinical practice.

Captures, analyses and relays structured, high-value field insights to inform medical strategy and optimise field activities.

Represents Medical Affairs at scientific congresses, advisory boards and investigator meetings.

Supports evidence-generation initiatives and other relevant medical activities.

Collaborates with the cross-functional launch team across Medical, Commercial and Market Access to ensure alignment with the overall launch strategy.

Uses CRM systems, analytics, digital tools and AI-enabled platforms to tailor and enhance scientific engagements.

Maintains advanced therapeutic-area and product knowledge, dedicating the majority of time to external Key Opinion Leaders and Healthcare Professionals engagement.

Ensures all interactions comply with Takeda policies, SOPs, applicable laws, regulations and industry codes.

Education: Advanced scientific degree required; PhD, PharmD or MD preferred. MSc acceptable.

4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including proven field medical/MSL experience.

Experience in competitive specialty markets preferred.

Track record of successful stakeholder mapping and relationship building.

Knowledge of neuroscience, sleep disorders or narcolepsy is advantageous.

Strong scientific communication, presentation and influencing skills.

Strong digital, analytical and omnichannel engagement capabilities.

Fluency in English and German required; French or Italian is an asset.

Willingness to travel 60–70% across Switzerland.

Valid driving licence.

Full understanding of the regulatory, legal and ethical framework for non-promotional engagement.

Ability to operate autonomously, make sound decisions and manage competing priorities.

Ability to lead through expertise and influence cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority.
